Interdisciplinary Project Work
Guided by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, students tackle real-world issues through research and collaboration. Discover how Interdisciplinary Project Work develops socially responsible citizens.
Overview
Interdisciplinary Project Work is a programme for lower-secondary students. It gives them opportunities to synthesise knowledge from different areas of learning and apply it critically and creatively to real-life situations. Students develop skills such as collaboration, communication and independent learning, preparing them for lifelong learning and future challenges.
At Pasir Ris Secondary School, Interdisciplinary Project Work enables students to explore the world and examine issues that are relevant to them. Guided by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, students conduct secondary research using national and international sources. They then investigate these issues at the school or community level and work with relevant stakeholders to address the problems they have identified.
Through this project, which spans Secondary 1 and Secondary 2, students learn about research, problem identification and problem-solving, media literacy and advocacy. These experiences help them become socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community by applying their values, knowledge and skills.
