DSA – DIGITAL MEDIA

At Pasir Ris Secondary School, we have a whole range of programmes and CCAs that cater to your interest in digital media. Through our school’s Experiencing Coding Programme and Makers Programme, you will be given the space and opportunities for creativity and innovation to address authentic and real-world challenges that we face in our daily lives, through coding, mobile app writing, robotics, maker workshops, and activities. In addition, the school’s Tinkers Club CCA will also be actively engaging you in coding and makers related competitions and events within and beyond the school.

For students who are interested in videography or photography, the Audio Visual Lights Club (AVL) will also provide you with the platform and in-house training to strengthen digital media skills, such as creating and curating videos, photos, and animation, audio, and perform post-production editing. This will enable you to express yourself effectively through digital media means and put your views across to others on various real-world issues, such as climate change. You will also be placing these skills to the test by serving in various school events coverage and gaining other soft skills, personal qualities, and attitudes, such as prioritization, time management, and resilience.

In our lower secondary integrated project work, you will also be able to work on solutions to real-world issues via digital media means too. You may be working on a Microbit project to provide visual and audio warnings to those who exercising that the surrounding temperature is too warm. You can write a mobile app to teach the elderly about good personal hygiene habits. You will be creating a video or a series of photos to send a clear signal to others that cyberbullying is harmful. The possibilities are endless.

Digital Media Talent Area

Selection Criteria

Applicants must: 

• Demonstrate empathy and inquisitive dispositions that will drive innovation and address real world issues

• Have a keen interest in Coding, Makers Movement, Robotics, Videography or Photography

• Have actively participated in Coding, Makers Movement, Robotics, Videography or Photography related competitions or CC

Applicants should indicate non-school based awards / activities which may comprise their school-based participation in relevant competitions in their online application in MOE’s DSA portal.
Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.

Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

Selection Process  

Shortlisted applicants will be required to go through an interview and upload artefacts to an online platform to showcase their potential. Examples of artefacts that can be uploaded may include a combination of: project presentation posters, photos/videos of their makers designs/products, programming source code, screenshots of mobile applications written, audio recordings, animation, photography or videography work. These artefacts can be gathered from individual or group participation in past events, activities, CCA sessions or competitions.

• For all applicants who are not studying in MOE mainstream primary schools, please refer to MOE DSA-Sec for Non-mainstream school website.

  • International Students may apply but must take part in and fulfil the requirements of the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) test to be successful in DSA. 

Centralised DSA-Sec Application Process

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 6 May 2026 to 2 Jun 2026.

• Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the application by 28 Aug 2026. Candidates who are given a Confirmed Offer are guaranteed a place in our school in the Posting Group which they are eligible for (Posting Group 1, 2 or 3) based on their PSLE results. 

• No appeal will be entertained as the school’s decision on the offer is final. 

Key Dates

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from Sec 1 - 4.
